1942

INAUGURATION

Astilleros de Palma is founded, located in La Pedrera, in part of what is now the Paseo Marítimo. The first boats constructed, for the local fleet, are made of wood.
1957

Paseo marítimo

The first section of Paseo Marítimo is finished and the shipyard must use a rotating bridge to continue manoeuvring and launching its ships.
1968

Cala Blanca

Naviera Mallorquina’ Cala Blanca is launched; the first boat built in steel. The first of seven boats of 640GT.
1968

Contramuelle

The facilities of the shipyard are moved to ‘Contramuelle’, where the medieval shipyards were located. Together with the shipyards ‘Ballester’ and ‘Naviera Mallorquina’, the new company Astilleros de Mallorca is founded.
1976

Cleopatra

The 44m M/Y Cleopatra is delivered; the first large yacht built by the shipyard.
1981

Esperanza del Mar

The hospital ship ‘Esperanza del Mar’ is delivered; a ship that for more than 20 years carried out medical support work in the Atlantic.
1984

Jessica

Jessica, a three-mast schooner, is delivered. Its 62-metre length made it the largest schooner built since 1927, sparking renewed global interest in this traditional rig style boat.

Largest Vessel

This year saw the launch of the largest ship in the history of the yard, with an LPG of 113m. of LOA and 4,500 GT.
1994

Aldonza

The last new boat to be built in Astilleros de Mallorca is delivered, M/Y Aldonza. Afterwards the yard specialises exclusively in yacht repair and refits.
2007

Best Refit

Boat International magazine awards Astilleros de Mallorca with the ‘Best Refit of the Year Award’, for the complete reconstruction of the yacht ‘Blue Bird’, built in 1938.
2008

Expansion

Repair and refit facilities open in the new STP area including workshops, specialised in mechanical & machinery/metal/pipe/hydraulics/electricity, and project management offices.

          The International Superyacht Society is a member-driven organization with a marketing and administrative staff that is reliant on the volunteer efforts of its Board and members. Funding for the organization comes directly from members and sponsors, and is used for initiatives that benefit the large yacht industry as a whole.

          The Spanish Association of Superyachts is a group of companies including shipyards, brokers, agents, marinas, and ancillary yachting services in general. Its aim is to support the interests of large yachts, sized over 24 metres, including technical and fiscal aspects, as well as regulatory interaction with Spanish and European authorities

          The Soermar Foundation is the sole interlocutor in the field of R&D&I, acting on behalf of its 21 Spanish shipyard members before Ministries, Autonomous Communities and related agencies. Coordinating R&D&I projects is designed to improve and expand members’ range of products collectively. Soermar improves access to new market niches, as well as new industrial sectors such as the design and construction of prototypes related to marine renewable energies.

          Astilleros de Mallorca is applicator, distributor and service agent for a number of renowned companies. This cooperation gives us the edge when running a tight refit schedule or supplying a yacht with specialized equipment at short notice.

          CERTIFICATIONS

          BV certified as Firm Engaged in Thickness Measurement of Hull Structures

          Astilleros de Mallorca is certified by BV to carry out and report on thickness meassurements of hull of ships classed with the Society.

          ABS Recognized External Specialist

          Astilleros de Mallorca is recognized by ABS as a Service Provider to provide services which ABS Surveyors may relay on to make decisions affecting classification or statutory surveys. The certification appoints Astilleros de Mallorca as a Hull Gauging Firm.

          DNV-GL APPROVAL OF SERVICE SUPPLIERS

          Astilleros de Mallorca, S.A. is granted acceptance for Thickness measurements on ships, in accordance with Class Programme DNVGL-CP-0484. Category I: Authorised to do measurements on all types and sizes of ships

          Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance

          Astilleros de Mallorca, S.A. has been approved by ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System Standard.

          LR Service Supplier

          Astilleros de Mallorca S.A has been assessed and approved in accordance with the requirements of Lloyd’s Register Approval for Thickness Measurement of Hull Structure as a service supplier for the provision of Thickness Measurements of Hull Structure

          AEO Certified Custom Procedures

          Astilleros de Mallorca is an Authorised Economic Operator for Customs Simplification. The programme aims to enhance international supply chain security and to facilitate legitimate trade. Astilleros’ customs processes are certified by local and European customs authorities.
