Unlike merchant ships, where hull extensions are carried out in the centre of the vessel, yachts normally take on stern extensions, and if required the subsequent aft superstructure.

This is a far more practical solution and involves less disruption to the existing vessel's systems and layout. It also means an extension can be carried out in a relatively short time period.

Stern extension of M/Y Shanti, ex. El Bravo. The original stern was inverted with a simple teak slatted platform. Access to this was via an external tight spiral stairway.
A 3m. extension block was made under the water line to include a swim platform, with an attached vertical transom and stair arrangement. The existing lazarette was kept intact.
Mary-Jean - new look, new name.

In this particular case the extension had two purposes, firstly to increase storage space and secondly to create a swim platform with easy access, from which guests could play, as well as embark on to the yachtÂ’s tenders. The new look also gave the vessel a significantly more modern design.
M/Y No Lo Se, ex. m/y Shark built at A&R.
Pre-fabricated stern section for M/Y No Lo Se.
No Lo Se - with a new modern stern layout.

Section of Klosters stern, ex. Sunrise.

In this case the design had to maintain the classic sailing vessel lines, and
incorporate a practical but stylish swim platform and tender embarkation point.
The solution was to cut out the centre section of the transom and incorporate
an articulating platform that folds away when not in use and a laterally stowed passerelle unit for stern-to access.

The shipyard has also been involved in the modification of hulls to assist with the
trim and performance of the vessel whilst underway, including bulbous bow
installations and trip platforms on semi displacement yachts.
