Unlike merchant ships, where hull extensions are carried out in the centre of the vessel, yachts normally take on stern extensions, and if required the subsequent aft superstructure.This is a far more practical solution and involves less disruption to the existing vessel's systems and layout.

There can be many reasons for engine room refits and system modifications. The more obvious items include regular servicing of the main engines by official manufacturers agents. In some cases, i.e. MTU, the W6 service requires the complete removal of the main engines and transportation to the agent's workshop.

The top decks of vessels were traditionally not very clean spaces due to the smoke/soot from the stacks and were therefore used as work areas, for storage of lifeboats etc. Modern exhausts are now fitted with excellent filtering systems and often exit on the hull side reducing noise and contamination.

It all started with the restoration of Creole (1985 - 1987). The experience acquired by the yard during the construction of the 60m Schooner Jessica, two years earlier, proved very useful when carrying out the more complex task of restoring Creole.

The works of building new masts and spars for Hispania, Blue-Bird, Dirdam, Giradilla and other mast repairs, made it necessary to build a mast shed for our shipwrights.
